Gourds are
so varied in size, shape, texture and color that each one speaks to
me about how it should be finished.
I prefer
keeping the theme of most of my gourds based on nature and natural
forms.
These sometimes become unreal but are
almost always derived from forms in nature.
I've
inlayed cut stones, turtle shells, beads etc. and generally use
leather dyes for color.
Wood
burning, inks, carving and painting are also used and all are sealed
with either wax or lacquer. |
